LDB suite
consists of the following two programs: LDB Desktop and LDB Server.
Langtved Data Ltd. develops
virtually all databases using LDB Desktop as a framework. LDB Desktop is a
generic program that supports a wide variety of data models. This means that all
development of individual databases can be done without costly, error prone, and
time-consuming computer programming thus making the databases inexpensive and
reliable and ensuring quick delivery times.
In LDB Desktop all objects are organized in data trees.
This includes all the system’s own objects such as queries, reports, use-cases,
report graphs, and screen layouts. Thus editing of practically all system
objects is possible for the advanced user. A comprehensive user model makes it
possible to reserve the extended capabilities for the users with the
corresponding responsibilities and know-how. All capabilities in LDB Desktop are
of course described in a user manual.
LDB
Desktop includes a number of standard features:
- › Report generator for ad-hoc reporting.
- › Tool for conversion of ad-hoc reports into nice-looking, formatted and parameterized reports.
- › Database Design Tool, which enables qualified staff to custom-define databases.
- › Controlled and monitored access to the database from SPSS and other statistics tools.
- › Tool for automatic e-mails and web-based reports
- › Tool for generation of PDF-based reports
- › Tool for exchanging data between data bases using webservices
- › Support for graphs in formatted reports.
- › Biostatistics, for example Kaplan-Meier survival analysis.
LDB Desktop is in a state of constant
development. The following generic features are under way:
-
- › Linking with Electronic Patient Journals (EPJ)
- › Internal archive for historic data; acces for ther (user) departments.
- › Department access rights to subsets of data including control of multiple ownerships
- › Authentication by external sources.
- › Capability for storage of any document type within the database
LDB Server includes a number of standard features:
-
- › Tools for automatic generation of e-mails and web-based reports.
- › Tool for exchanging data between data bases using web-services.
- › Automatic download of new lookup values and documentation (e.g. hospital codes, ICD diagnostic codes
etc.). Used but obsolete values are kept but marked inactive.

LDB Desktop 9.4
LDB Desktop version 9.4 is a new and improved version of LDB Desktop. In this version, multiple data trees, graphs, the databrowser, and user rights management have been improved.
-
- › The graph module has been improved, so graphs now can be used online or as a part of a report. The properties of a graph can be defined by the user and saved.
- › The databrowser is updated with the purpose of making it easy to adjust LDB Desktop to individual user situations.
- › The Ad Hoc report generator can be used to make queries which then can be implemented in the databrowser. This can be used to define specific working situations (use-cases).
- › The user rights have been extended. Data can now be linked to specific users or user groups. The rights cover reading, writing and deleting and may be assigned at trees, tables, table rows
or table columns. Table row rights can be used for like departments that cannot have access or only partial access to each other.’s data.
